Another Kingdom: Destiny

Poker Set
Ceramic, wood, leather, metal, plastic; 100×5×100 cm
Edition: 50.

This limited-edition poker set marks a new direction in the growing collection of games within the Yoomoota art universe. Reinterpreting another classic, the work explores power, rivalry, and chance — the enduring forces of life beyond the table. The piece chronicles four rival kingdoms, each represented by a card suit: hearts embody passion and trust; clubs, analytical thought; spades, victory at any cost; and diamonds, negotiation and the art of bluffing. Outside these hierarchies stands the Joker, a dreamlike figure who whispers counsel to kings as they sleep — an embodiment of unpredictability, imagination, and fate itself.

Each handcrafted set features 54 playing cards with original artwork and 300 ceramic chips whose denominations symbolize the passage of time, all presented in a case crafted from beech and wrapped in leather with colored inlays. Combining woodworking, leather upholstery, inlaying, printing, foil stamping, and ceramic casting, the production process brings together a varied palette of textures across ceramic, plastic, wood, leather, and metal.
